Biography
Triangle songwriter, actress and recording artist Jennifer Evans has been singing gospel hymns since her early childhood in Baptist church pews in rural Mississippi. Her original vocal styling earned her an 2007 EnSound Music Awards as Best Traditional Gospel Performer. In 2009 she made her independent film debut in The Foundation of Earth at the Nasher Museum and was a featured performer at DPAC for the 2010 Goodman Awards and at the Carolina Theatre for the Mahogany Dime Awards. She was a featured gospel artist at the Gainesville FL Juneteenth Celebration and a cast member of the award-winning "Hidden Voices", composing music for the production Home Is Not Just One Story. Her debut CD, Delayed But Not Denied received praise and she launched her second CD Just Your Name at a CD release gala benefit for Hidden Voices at Papa Mojo's Roadhouse on September 26, 2010!

MURPHEY SCHOOL RADIO SHOW
Triangle favorites Jill McCorkle and Daniel Wallace will join an all-North Carolina troupe for an old-time variety show to benefit local mental health agencies on Saturday, February 19, 2011.
In the tradition of the Grand Ole Opry and Prairie Home Companion, the Murphey School Radio Show will feature performances, comedy and readings by local musicians and writers, including Bland Simpson, Lise Uyanik, Mary Rocap, Jennifer Evans, Jay Cartwright, Stella (a capella) and the Piedmont Players.
Seating is limited to 150 in the auditorium of the newly restored historic Murphey School in rural Orange County. The two-hour event will begin at 7:30pm and will be recorded for broadcast.
The Historic Murphey School is located at 3729 Murphey School Rd. in Durham. The show is sponsored by Shared Visions Retreat Center.
